Death sentence imposed on 4 persons involved in 1995 murder

The Kegalle High court imposed death sentences on 4 accused persons who were convicted over charges of murder committed in 1995.
Ada Derana court reporters state that the verdict was passed by High Court Judge Dammika Ganepola bringing an end to a 22-year long trial. The verdict was passed during court proceedings today (14).
6 individuals were arrested on September 29, 1995 on counts of unlawful assembly and first degree murder after two persons were stabbed to death in Kegalle.
It has been reported that during the course of the trail, one defendant died while imprisoned and another was found not guilty.
High Court Judge Dammika Ganepola passed the sentence today finding all four remaining defendants guilty of murder.
