Rainy weather expected to decrease from tomorrow

The Department of Meteorology says that the prevailing rainy condition in the south-western part of the country is expected to decrease to certain extent after Thursday (September 28).
Strong gusty winds (60-70kmph) can be expected over surrounding sea areas of the island and fairly strong gusty winds (40-50kmph) can be expected over the island, particularly in the Northern, North-central, North- western, Uva and Central provinces and in Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts while fairly heavy showers (about 50-75 mm) can be expected at some places.
Several spells of showers may occur in the North-western province and in the Hambanthota district.
Meanwhile the Met Department said that the sea areas around the island and the Bay of Bengal sea areas will be rough with strong windy condition. Heavy showers may occur at times in the Bay of Bengal to the north and East of the island.
Showers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambanthota via Colombo and Galle.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Northern sea areas of the island while winds will be south-westerly in direction and speed will be 30-40 kmph.
The sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar and the sea area off the coast extending from Hambanthota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph in the other sea areas.
