Ugandan female arrested with narcotics worth Rs.5 million at BIA

Officials from the Customs unit of the Bandaranaike International Airport detained a Ugandan female who attempted to smuggle Rs.5 million worth narcotics into Sri Lanka. 

 

The suspect arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai at 5.00am this morning. 

 

BIA officials conducted a search following intelligence received and found narcotics, 505g of suspected heroin, that were hidden within the hand luggage of the Ugandan woman.
 
Reports confirm that the 43 year old Ugandan woman had journeyed to Sri Lanka twice before. Accordingly officials have broadened investigations into the incident.
