Namal, Chanaka and Ranaweera to appear before Hambantota Police today

It has been reported that MP Namal Rajapaksa, DV Chanaka and Prasanna Ranaweera will appear before the Hambatota Police today (9), as Namal Rajapaksa cannot appear before the Police tomorrow due to a personal commitment. 

 

MP Namal Rajapaksa, DV Chanaka and Prasanna Ranaweera were have been summoned by the Hambantota Police tomorrow (10), for questioning over the Hambantota protests that occurred on October 6. 

 

Twenty-eight persons were arrested and remanded following the tense situation during the Joint Opposition-organised protest opposite the Indian Consulate in Hambantota.

 

Several parties including the SLHRC and the National Police Commission stated that investigations will be launched on the Police brutality that occurred during the protests. 

 

UPDATE: 11.00am

 

MP Namal Rajapaksa arrived at the Hambantota police station a short while ago to respond to questions raised on the protests led by Joint Opposition activists on October 6.
