
Indian customs department officials have retrieved 19 gold bars weighing about 300g from a Sri Lankan national on Friday and Saturday.
Sathiyaseelan, 37, of Colombo, arrived in the Coimbatore International Airport by Sri Lankan airlines on Friday.
He was intercepted by a team of customs department officials after they got a tip-off that he had concealed 20 gold bars in his body.
Immediately, he was taken to a private hospital at SITRA where the customs officials retrieved 19 gold bars weighing about 300g in the last two days.
One more gold bar has to be retrieved from the passenger at the hospital. Further investigation is on.
