Low level atmospheric disturbance in vicinity of Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology says that due to the low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, cloudy and showery weather is expected over most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur over most provinces of the island after 2.00pm while showers may occur in the coastal areas around the island in the morning too, it said.
Heavy rainfall (about 150mm) can be expected at some places in Uva province and heavy falls (above 100mm) can be expected at some places particularly in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central and Northern provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Uva provinces during the morning, the department said.
Sea Area
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanturai.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere.
Heavy showers can be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Kankasanturai and Puttalam.
Winds will be Northerly to North-westerly in direction in the sea areas extending from Kankasanturai to Matara via Colombo and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be 15-20 kmph in the other sea areas.
