Corpse with fertilizer bag on head found in Bandaragama

A corpse was found earlier today (31), underneath a lamp post in Bandaragama. The face of the deceased was covered by an empty fertilizer bag raising murder suspicions surrounding the incident.  

Reports confirm that the deceased individual was 33-year old Chinthaka Mahesh Udayaratne who was a father of two. 

Mahesh had journeyed to the residence of his sister with his wife and two children last night (30). 

His body was found the next morning underneath a lamp post where his head was completely covered by a fertilizer bag. The individual who discovered the body reported the incident to the local authorities. 

Police officials arrived at the scene of the crime and discovered that the switch of the lamp post had been tampered with and removed. 

The body of Chinthaka Mahesh Udayaratne was transferred to the hospital for a postmortem examination as the Police suspect that Mahesh was murdered. 

Officials from the Bandaragama police are currently investigating the incident.
