The Fundamental Rights petition filed by Perpetual Treasuries Limited, against the temporary suspension of their primary dealer license by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, has been dismissed by the Supreme Court without a hearing.
The decision was delivered by a three-member judge bench comprising Chief Justice Priyasad Dep, Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare and Justice Nalin Perera when the FR petition was taken up for consideration today (2).
The petitioner party, Perpetual Treasuries Ltd, claims that their primary dealer license was suspended by the Central Bank for a period of six months without any fair investigation and that this was a violation of fundamental rights.
Therefore the company requested that the court issue an order annulling the temporary suspension of their license. However, dismissing the petition without a hearing, the Supreme Court stated that there was no legal basis for the petition.
