MP Vijitha Herath stated that the upcoming local government election must be viewed as a public referendum where the people will express their views on the frauds and crimes committed by the government.
Speaking to the media at a press conference yesterday (2), MP Herath stated that the government is conducting these elections with utmost reluctance.
He further stated that the elections will be treated as an expression of public opinion where the people will decide upon the fate of a government that committed crimes just as much as the Rajapaksa regime.
When questioned on the decision of the Bond Commission to summon Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to submit evidence on the ongoing bond scandal, Vijitha Herath stated that the Prime Minister should have appeared before the Commission before being summoned to display his innocence.
