Thelgamu –Oya tragedy: Bodies of all victims recovered

The  bodies of remaining the two children from the group of  eight persons that were reported missing while bathing in Thelgamu –Oya were found today morning (6) following a search operations carried out by the Police, Army and the residents.

Accordingly the bodies of all eight persons who went missing while bathing in Thelgamu –Oya were found by today, police confirmed. 
Search operations were carried out for the second consecutive day to locate the missing persons who went missing while bathing in  Thelgamu Oya ,Laggala,Matale following flash floods on November 4.

A joint search operation was launched by the Police and the residents of the area today (6), but the search operations were disturbed due to ongoing heavy rainfall.

However, a group of officers from the Maduru-oya Army Camp and Trincomalee Naval Base were also deployed to find missing persons.

The search operations which were carried out yesterday (5) were also hindered from heavy rain time to time.

Accordingly, search operations were concluded yesterday at 5.30 pm and they resumed this morning, Army Spokesman Major General Roshan Seneviratne said.
