
Minister of Justice Thalatha Atukorale stated that several sweeping changes that many individuals did not expect will be implemented within the judiciary of Sri Lanka in the next two months.
While addressing a gathering in Badulla earlier today (9), the Justice Minister stated that the situation within the Ministry of Justice is not as docile as many people have claimed.
She further stated that a vast number of unresolved cases have been piling up to which the Police may be responsible. Elaborating on her statement Minister Atukorale stated that the Police often palm off their judicial duties to the legal system due to lethargy and irresponsibility.
The Justice Minister also stated that even though the judiciary cannot be changed overnight, the changed that will be implemented will enable the judiciary to function more smoothly.
