Rising water level of Iranamadu tank provides relief to northern Agricultural sector

The Department of irrigation has reported that the persistent rains plaguing the northern region of the country have caused the water level of the Iranamadu tank to rise dramatically over the past few days. 

Reports confirm that the water level has risen to 18.5 feet today (13). 

Officials from the Irrigation Department state that the Iranamadu tank has a capacity of 36 feet. Further they stated that currently more than half of the tanks capacity has been exceeded providing great relief to the people of the Kilinochchi area. 

Residents of the area stated that the agricultural sector that was gravely affected by the drought has been greatly bolstered by the rising water-level.
