The Colombo High has postponed the case against former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, for allegedly forging a document, for the third time.

President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who are witnesses in the case, failed to appear before the court when the case was taken up today (4).

The case was filed against Attanayake for making public a forged document alleging a secret agreement between Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and TNA leader R. Sampanthan during the presidential election and thereby attempting to cause tension among communities.

Attorneys representing the President and Prime Minister informed the court that their clients are unable to appear before the court due to participation in the budget debate. Therefore they requested for another date from the court.

The case was postponed until February 26, 2018 while the attorneys were informed to notify the President and Prime Minister to appear before court on that date.

Meanwhile the former UNP General Secretary has sought the permission of the court to visit Australia from December 10th to 30th.
