Nominations for 14 LG bodies handed over yesterday

The Election Commission accepted nominations from several political parties and independent groups for 14 Local Government bodies yesterday (11).

 

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) handed over nominations for Ja-ela, Wattala, Mabola Pradeshiya Sabhas of Gampaha District, the Election Commission announced.

 

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) handed over nominations for Badulla Municipal Council, Haputale Municipal Council, Lunugala Pradeshiya Sabha, Haldummulla Pradeshiya Sabha, and Badulla Pradeshiya Sabha of Badulla District yesterday.

 

Nominations were handed over by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for Trincomalee Municipal Council, Kadawatha Pradeshiya Sabha, Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha, of Trincomalee District and Galnewa Pradeshiya Sabha of Anuradhapura District. 

 

The United National Party (UNP) handed over nominations for Weligepola  Pradeshiya Sabha, of Ratnapura District.

 

Menwhile, two independent parties handed over nominations for Balapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha of Galle District and Bandarawela Urban Council of Badulla District.

 

The Elections Commission commenced accepting nominations for the conduct of elections for 93 Local Government bodies from yesterday.

 

The acceptance of nominations for Local Government bodies will conclude at noon on the December 14, stated Additional Election Commissioner M.M.Mohammed.
