The accepting of nominations for 248 local government institutions is slated to end at 12 noon today (21).
Nominations for these local government bodies were accepted from December 18 while several political parties and independent groups have already handed in their nomination lists.
The police department said that special security arrangements have been put in place at all District Secretariats for today as it is the final day for handing over nominations for the LG polls.
Police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that close to 15,000 police personnel have been assigned to security duties for today.
He also warned that any form of marches or processions are completely prohibited.
Meanwhile Additional Elections Commissioner M.M. Mohammed says that a period of 2 hours will be allocated for filing objections after the accepting of nominations ends.
