Local politician arrested over Digana violence

One more suspect has been arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) in connection with the recent clashes at Digana, the Police Spokesman said.
He said that the suspect, Kumara Mohottige Samantha Perera, a resident of Rajawella in Digana, is a newly-elected member of the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha member representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
He was arrested last night based on the investigations being carried out by the TID regarding the damages caused to businesses and places of worship in the Digana Town in the Teldeniya Police Division on March 5 and acting in a manner causing violence and hate between communities.
He will be produced before Teldeniya Magistrate today (29).
