Police said that over 300 employees of a garment factory in Minuwangoda were hospitalised this morning due to food poisoning.
The male and female workers of a garment factory located at Yakahaluwa in the Minuwangoda police division were admitted to the Minuwangoda and Gampaha hospitals due to food poisoning allegedly caused by eating the breakfast provided by the factory to its employees this morning (22).
Police said that currently 104 female employees and 52 males have been admitted to the Gampaha Base Hospital while 99 female employees and 51 male employees have been admitted to the Minuwangoda Hospital.
The factory employees were hospitalised after they had shown symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting and temporary loss of consciousness. Some of the employees have already left the hospitals after receiving treatment, Ada Derana reporter said.
Minuwangoda Police is conducting further investigations.
