Terms of five provincial councils expired

The official terms of the North-Western Provincial Council will come to an end today (10) and accordingly, it will fall under the administration of the Governor.

Along with expiry of the term of office of the North- Western Provincial Council, terms of office of 5 provincial councils have officially ended.

The terms of office of the North-Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa provincial councils ended in September last year. Term of office of the Central Provincial council concluded last Monday (08) and the term of the Northern Provincial Council will also end on 25th October.

On 10th and 21st of April next year, terms of Southern and Western Provincial Councils will end respectively, while the term of office of the Uva Provincial Council is due to expire in September next year.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Council delimitation review committee report is currently being compiled, stated a spokesman.

However, the date of publication of the report has not yet been revealed.
