The respondents of the petition filed by the SLTB, seeking to recover the Rs 140 million in losses incurred allegedly due to the buses provided for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election campaign, have been ordered to file answers to the petition.
When the petition was taken up before the Commercial High Court Judge R. Gurusinghe today (10), the attorneys representing both parties were ordered to take necessary measures to file on February 06.
The plaintiff of the petition, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) alleges that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had used SLTB buses during the previous presidential election campaign and has not refunded the loss of Rs 140 million caused to the SLTB.
Hence, the SLTB seeks the issuance of an order from the Commercial High Court to recover the loss of Rs 140 million from the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
