Two persons have been hospitalized following a lorry accident near Malangamuwa bridge on Malangamuwa-Badulla road.

A lorry transporting cement has fallen into a 40-foot precipice from a bend at the end of a steep road, at around 7.40 pm last night (10).

The lorry had been returning from delivering cement to a place in Kahataruppa in Badulla when the accident had occurred.

Reportedly, the lorry had fallen into the Malangamuwa River below and been dragged nearly 50 feet along the river.

Inattentive driving has caused this accident, according to the Badulla Police.

Badulla Police is conducting further investigations on the accident.
