Arjuna on the cause for degradation of cricket

Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga says that the degradation of cricket has been caused because of interference of money.

He made this reviews at the inauguration ceremony of XBAN 2018 exhibition at the Gampaha Bandaranaike School.

“We were delighted when we got the opportunity to represent school team or national team. National team will represent 20 million people. We never betray the expectation of 20 million people for money. Unfortunately, now there is such culture as a country and as a sport. There should be a proper way to exempt from this culture,” he said.

The former World Cup-winning Sri Lanka cricket captain said there was bad news about cricket lately and that all of those were caused because of individuals chasing after money.  “We are not late to change this culture,” the Minister stated.

“Teachers punished us to make us good people. I’m not against punishments. But now, if a teacher punishes a student, they will complain to the human rights. All of us have forgotten our way when the country goes forward,” Ranatunga added.
