President believes SLFP should quit govt - Isura Devapriya

Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya says that the prevailing economic situation in the country has been mostly harmful to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the President as the more they support the government the more they suffer.

Speaking to reporters today (20), he charged that history has shown that every time the United National Party (UNP) has come to power it has only caused harm to the country and has never worked for the betterment of the country.

Asked whether the SLFP will continue to stay in the government, he alleged that the President has already said that it is not good for the party to continue to stay in the government. “He has given the message that if to do politics we must go to the opposition,” Devapriya said.

He stated that they believe President Maithripala Sirisena will consider the present situation and take a political decision, similar to the one he took before contesting the presidential election on January 8, 2015.
