Protest against new Commissioner General of Inland Revenue

October 25, 2018   05:05 pm

A group of employees of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) today launched a protest campaign against the newly appointed Commissioner General of the department.

The protest was carried out in front of the Inland Revenue Department building this afternoon (25), said Ada Derana reporter.

The protest was launched against the appointment of a former employee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka as the new Commissioner General of Inland Revenue disregard of the norms, stated the General Secretary of Trade Union Joint Committee of IRD.

He further commented that this appointment has been made in contradiction to the service constitution, which states that an eligible person who has risen through the ranks at the department should be appointed to the position of Commissioner General.
