Spill gates of major reservoirs opened tonight - DMC

Disaster Management Center (DMC) has warned that spill gates of several major reservoirs would be opened tonight (25) due to the prevailing heavy rainfall.

 

Accordingly,The spill gates of the Kotmale reservoir will be opened tonight and the people are urged by the DMC to refrain from using Mahaweli river in Nugawela, Ulapane and Polgolla.

 

Meanwhile, spill gates of Randenigala reservoir might open automatically by midnight today, stated DMC. 

 

Residents in downstream areas are asked to be vigilant of potential risks.
