
Due to the low level atmospheric disturbance to the south-east of the island, prevailing showery condition over the country and in the sea areas is expected to continue, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Hambanthota and Matale districts while showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 2.00pm.
Heavy rainfall about 100-150 mm will occur at some places particularly in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North-central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.
Sea Area:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas extending from Hambanthota to Kankasanturai via Batticaloa and Trincomalee, the department said.
Showers or thundershowers can be expected in the other sea areas during evening or night. Heavy showers or thundershowers can be expected at some places in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph over the sea areas extending from Batticaloa to Puttalam via Kankasanturai. Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in these sea areas.
Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be 10-20 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
