
Petroleum trade unions have called off their strike after Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) arrested former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga over the events last evening (28) at the CPC premises.
Three persons were shot at in a tense situation occurred within the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) premises when the former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga arrived at the premises last evening.
One of the shooting victims succumbed to their injuries following admission to the National hospital.
Police Media Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a guard of the former Minster Ranatunga had fired the gunshots and the relevant guard has been arrested over the incident.
Meanwhile, several CPC trade unions launched an indefinite strike to protest the incident.
