Police ordered to prevents any violence in Colombo today

IGP Pujith Jayasundara has ordered all senior police officers to ensure the safety in Colombo today and take measures to prevent any acts of violence from taking place in the city within the day, police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

 

The United National Party (UNP) has organized a protest rally in Colombo today against the appointment of a new Prime Minister by President Maithripala Sirisena.

 

Meanwhile police have also obtained a court order preventing UNP protesters from causing an inconvenience to the public, disturbing the peace and also barring them from entering the premises of any public institutions within today (30).
