The lady doctor, who was arrested and remanded due to her involvement in a recent traffic accident which had resulted in the death of a police officer in Boralesgamuwa, has been released on bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court. When the suspect was produced before the Nugegoda Chief Magistrate Wasantha Kumara today (30), she was ordered to be released on two personal bails of Rs 500,000 each. A police officer was killed while his wife and two sons were injured following a head-on collision involving a car and a jeep on Wickramaratne Mawatha, Boralesgamuwa at around 12.45 a.m. on September 30. It was revealed that the jeep had been driven by a 39-year-old lady doctor. The police stated that preliminary investigations had uncovered that the lady doctor had been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. She was subsequently arrested by police and remanded after being produced before the court. Although the medical report issued by the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital stated that the lady doctor had not been under the influence of alcohol, the police later confirmed she was in fact under the influence of alcohol.
