Two police officers injured in clash at Galewela

Two police officers have been injured following a clash with a group of individuals during a drug bust at Pahalawewa, Galewela.

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the attack on the two Police Constables.

The clash had taken place when the two police officers had attempted to arrest several suspects using drugs in the Kirilamulla area last night (30).

The police officers, who had been assaulted with clubs, have been admitted to Dambulla and Galewela hospitals.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident while around 12 other suspects involved in the attack have reportedly fled.

Galewela Police has launched a special operations to track down and apprehend the suspects who managed to flee.
