Two killed, one injured in assault cases

One individual has died after being punched and then assaulted with a bottle while another person sustained injuries.

 

The incident had taken place last evening (11) at around 5.15 p.m. in Maussawa area of Galaha police division.

 

The deceased is revealed to be a 61-year-old named Suwaris Samaraweera residing in Kolambissa, Maussawa .

 

The body is placed at the Deltota District Hospital, while the injured person, aged 25 years, is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

 

The suspect of the assault and murder case has been identified and Galaha Police is carrying out further investigations to apprehend him.

 

Meanwhile, another person has been murdered in Meetiyagoda police division in a dispute between two individuals.

 

The deceased is identified as a 54-year-old named Denenthi Dharmasiri, who had been residing in Thelwenna area in Welapara.

 

The body of the deceased is placed at the Balapitiya Hospital and the postmortem examination is to be conducted today (12).

 

A 45-year-old individual from Hikkaduwa area has been arrested on suspicion in connection with the murder and he is to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court today.

 

Meetiyagoda Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
