Twelve Bangladeshis have been arrested at Malwana, Sapugaskanda and Kiribathgoda areas for staying in the country using fake residence visa.

The arrest was made based on a tip-off received by the officers of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

Three of the suspects were arrested at Malwana area. Interrogations into these suspects had led to the arrest of nine other Bangladeshis in Sapugaskanda and Kiribathgoda areas.

The suspects, aged 20-30 years, are currently detained at the Mirihana Detention Centre.
