Three killed, two critical in van-tipper truck collision

Three persons including 2 females have died while another two sustained critical injuries in a collision between a van and a tipper truck, Ada Derana reporter said.

The accident has taken place at around 10.00 pm last night (15) at Kudameegaswewa area on Dambulla-Habarana road, according to the police.

It was reported that the driver of the van and two females had died in the accident.

Another two persons, a male and a female who were critically injured, have been initially admitted to Dambulla Hospital and transferred to the Kandy Base Hospital afterwards.

The deceased were identified as residents of Kaduruwela area in Polonnaruwa.

Habarana Police has arrested the driver of the tipper truck over the incident.

However, the police said the accident was caused by inattentive driving of the two drivers.

Habarana Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
