Two females have reportedly died, while 3 others sustained injuries in a motor accident on the Southern Expressway between Dodangoda and Gelanigama last night (25).
The accident happened as a jeep carrying four females, which had been en route to Colombo from Matara, had rear-ended a lorry travelling on the same line, Police Media Spokesperson said.
Two women who were admitted to the Bandaragama District Hospital and Horana Base Hospital have succumbed to injuries.
The driver of the jeep and the two other injured females are receiving treatment at the Nagoda General Hospital, Bandaragama District Hospital and Horana Base Hospital.
The remains of the deceased are placed at the two respective hospitals.
The lorry driver has been arrested over the incident.
The Gelanigama Police Post on Southern Expressway is conducting further investigations on the incident.
