Ex-CID Director Shani Abeysekara files petition against transfer

Former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) SSP Shani Abeysekara has filed a fundamental rights petition challenging his transfer from the position. 

 

The petition, filed by attorneys repressing the police officer, request the court to reinstate their client in the position of CID Director.  

 

SSP Shani Abeysekara was transferred on November 21 and assigned to serve as the Personal Assistant to the Southern DIG.

 

The National Police Commission (NPC) had stated that the transfer was made upon the request of the Acting Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne.
