
The Meteorology Department says that several spells of showers will occur in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm can be expected at some places in Uva province and in Hambantota, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Wind speed can increase up to (40-50) kmph at times in Northern, Eastern, North-Central, Central and North-western provinces and in Monaragala and Hambantota districts.
Sea areas:
Several spells of showers may occur in the sea areas extending from Mullaitivu to Hambanthota via Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea area extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be North-easterly and speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas around the island.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and the sea areas extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam.
Wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the other sea areas around the island.
The sea area off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increased up to (50-60) kmph at times.
Other sea areas can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
