Heat advisory issued for several areas

Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in North-Western, Western and Southern Provinces and in Mannar, Ratnapura, and Monaragala districts, says the Department of Meteorology.

The statement issued by the Department noted that this weather advisory is in effect until tomorrow (March 01).

The advisory urges the public to limit strenuous outdoor activities and to stay hydrated to avoid exhaustion and heat cramps.

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on human body.
