Heat advisory for North-Western province and three districts

The Department of Meteorology has issued a Heat Index Advisory for the North-Western province and in Vauniya, Anuradhapura and Monaragala districts.
Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in North-western province and in Vauniya, Anuradhapura and Monaragala districts, it said.
According to the advisory, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible under this level of warning while continuing activity could result in heat stroke.
The public is requested to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often as possible and also to limit strenuous outdoor activities.
