
All co-operatives sales outlets in the country have been instructed to reopen as soon as the curfew imposed by the government is lifted, in order to provide consumers with essential food items and other goods.
Commissioner of Co-operative Development Mr. Suwinda S. Singappuli has also instructed the co-operative outlets to contact the Sri Lanka Co-operative Marketing Federation through the Co-operative Development Commissioner of their respective province, if there are any shortages of essential goods.
He further notes that the Sri Lanka Co-operative Marketing Federation has sufficient stocks of essential food items required by co-operatives.
The government has imposed an island-wide curfew with effect from 6.00pm yesterday (20) until 6.00am on Monday (23).
