An individual has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for spreading malicious news on COVID-19 through social media.
The arrestee is a university administrator and had been spreading misinformation via his Facebook account, stated DIG Ajith Rohana.
The suspect had been remanded until the 01st of April when he was produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
