175 Negombo Prison inmates released over coronavirus outbreak

With the spread of the coronavirus, the Negombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release of 175 inmates in Negombo Prison under slack bail conditions.

Accordingly, 51 inmates were released today (28) under the supervision of the Negombo Prison Superintendent.

Since the curfew is in force, the Prison Superintendent had handed them over to the respective police stations and given them the opportunity to return home.
