England won the toss and elected to bowl in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Durham, with eOin Morgan doing the job as skipper Alastair Cook was ruled out through injury.
With Cook on the sidelines, this allowed a recall for Michael Carberry to open, though calls for Alex Hales’ inclusion were loud, yet ignored. This was their only change from the side that won the first game.
Sri Lanka made two changes, bringing in Ashan Priyanjan and Dhammika Prasad for the injured Suranga Lakmal and Thisara Perera. Lakmal was ruled out of the series with a hamstring tear.
