Four including Akuressa PS chairman arrested

Chairman of the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha Munidasa Gamage and three other persons have been arrested by the Police near the Maussakelle police checkpoint in Maskeliya.

Reportedly, the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and his associates had been proceeding on a lorry towards Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada).

Upon inspection, none of the travelers had possessed a valid curfew pass, said Ada Derana reporter.

Accordingly, the four travelers including the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and their belongings found on the lorry have been seized by the police.

Maskeliya Police stated that they had traveled up to Maskeliya without being noticed by security forces.

The arrested suspects are to be produced before Hatton Magistrate’s Court.
