25 drug addicts sent for rehabilitation following quarantine process

Twenty-five drug addicts, who were moved to quarantine centres from Nagalagam Street in Grandpass and Thotagala areas have been directed for rehabilitation.
A group of more than 100 people from these areas sent for compulsory quarantine on April 15 as they had been potentially exposed to an individual who had contracted the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
However, as 25 of them were found to be drug addicts, they were sent to a Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Kandakadu following the completion of 21-day mandatory quarantine.
This measure has been carried out under the directives of the Commander of the Army.
