A group of Sri Lankans who were stranded in Thailand due to the COVID-19 outbreak have been repatriated on Sunday (17).

They have been brought back to Sri Lanka in a special flight (Q-26351) chartered by Maldivian Airlines at around 7.30 pm.

The flight had departed from the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) with 70 Sri Lankans aboard.

The Air Force personnel had decontaminated the returnees and their luggage upon arrival. Subsequently, a medical check-up was conducted by the health authorities at the airport.

The returnees were then directed to mandatory quarantine procedure.

The special flight has left for the Male International Airport at around 10pm.
