A special repatriation flight carrying 181 Sri Lankan nationals, who had been stranded in Russia due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this morning (25).

SriLankan Airlines flight UL 1206 arriving from Moscow had touched down at the BIA at around 5.50 a.m. today, according to Ada Derana reporter.

The passengers and their luggage were subjected to disinfection by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel on arrival while the medical unit and airport security tested their temperatures and checked for any symptoms of novel Coronavirus.

Subsequently the passengers were transported to quarantine centers in several buses by Sri Lanka Army personnel.

This is the second batch of Sri Lankans to return from Russia. Previously a repatriation flight carrying 261 passengers had arrived from Moscow, Russia on May 22.
