Fourteen more individuals have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus increasing the total number of cases reported in Sri Lanka to 1,162, stated the Ministry of Health.

Accordingly, 21 new coronavirus positive cases have been reported within today so far.

The 14 new cases have been identified among individuals who had returned to the country from Kuwait and were undergoing mandatory quarantine, stated the Department of Government Infomation.

Earlier today (25), seven persons who had also arrived in the country from Kuwait were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Sri Lanka confirmed its tenth death from COVID-19 infection a short while ago. The deceased is a 52-year-old female who had suffered from heart conditions prior to death. She too had been undergoing quarantine upon arrival from Kuwait, stated the Director-General of Health Services.

Currently, 458 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the country, as per the Epidemiology Unit.

A total of 695 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital upon complete recovery from the illness.
