Total count rises to 1,548 with eight fresh COVID-19 cases

COVID-19 cases detected in Sri Lanka escalated to 1,548 today (29) as eight more persons tested positive for the virus.

 

The Ministry of Health confirmed that all these virus cases are returnees who are undergoing quarantine.

 

A total of 18 fresh coronavirus infections have been reported so far within the day – 7 navy men and 11 returnees.

 

Earlier today (29), nine coronavirus patients were discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital, Navy Hospital and Homagama Base Hospital as they had recovered completely. This brought the recoveries tally to 754.

 

The number of actives cases currently under medical accordingly stands at 784.

 

Sri Lanka reported its 10th COVID-19 death on Monday (25) as a 51-year-old woman who had arrived in the country from Kuwait succumbed to the disease.
