40kg of TNT explosives uncovered in Vishwamadu

A cache of TNT explosives has been recovered by the Sri Lanka Navy during an operation carried out at Udayarkattu area in Vishwamadu, yesterday (07).

Naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command carried out a search operation discovered the explosives in a barrel concealed in a shrubby area at Udayarkattu in Vishwamadu.

Reportedly, nearly 40 kilograms of TNT explosives were uncovered by the officers.

The haul of explosives is believed to have been abandoned by LTTE terrorists during the humanitarian operations, state Sri Lanka Navy.

The explosives cache is due to be disposed of by the Bomb Disposal Unit of SL Navy.
