Cabinet nod for new interchange on Southern Expressway at Bedigama

The Cabinet of Ministers has given the nod to construct a new interchange on the Southern Expressway at Bedigama area for Tangalle-Weeraketiya road.

The government has identified that this new interchange has the potential to increase the number of Southern Expressway users.

The Cabinet also approved using the remaining from the Southern Expressway part II for this purpose.


Meanwhile, the Cabinet also decided that the project for reconstruction of Maho-Omanthai railway line be exempted from taxes.


This project, carried out under Indian loan funds, received the Cabinet approval on 02 April 2019.
