A woman in Anuradhapura who had been discharged upon recovery from COVID-19 has contracted the virus once again.
The 36-year-old woman from Kebithigollewa, Anuradhapura who recently returned from Kuwait had been diagnosed with COVID-19 upon arrival.
She had then received treatment at the Homagama Hospital where she was declared free from the virus and had been discharged two days ago.
However, she had been admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital over falling sick again.
Director of the hospital Dr. Dulan Samaraweera stated that the woman in question has contracted the COVID-19 virus again and that it had been confirmed through a PCR test.
However, Director General of Health Dr. Anil Jasinghe stated that there is no risk of community spread due to the re-infection of the woman.
